Funded by Sega for several years, Aliens: Colonial Marines was teased to be the ultimate Aliens game. The true nature, however, came to light when the game released with several game-breaking bugs and glitches, and a lawsuit came under way, suing Gearbox for using Sega's funding for the game on Borderlands 2 instead.

Beyond: Two Souls may have been tolerable, if it were a movie. Unfortunately, it wasn't. Plagued with uninteresting "gameplay", boring characters, and a pretentious story, Interactive Film Simulator 2013 was easy to hate. The only redeeming factor was the nude mod.
Beyond: Two Souls
Quantic Dream
Revealed years prior, Bioshock Infinite looked to be a promising, and new take on a previously well-received series. However, the game gained notoriety as a game for 'smart' people, by including a two gun limit, several vigors with overlapping powers, and a story that even the head writer has admitted makes him feel stupid.
BioShock Infinite
Irrational Games and 2K Australia
Call of Duty: Ghosts never really had a lot going for it. The graphics looked average, the multiplayer was a mess, the campaign was boring, and the game features little new additions. The dog model was pretty good though.
Call of Duty: Ghosts
Infinity Ward
Dead Space 3 never had a great forecast. It was clear EA was double downing the franchise to a much bigger audience, much more action oriented, one that Dead Space was never meant to appease, nor could it feasibly do so: in the end it failed to meet sales.
Dead Space 3
Visceral Games
This game's mistakes were simple: Taking itself seriously and calling itself Devil May Cry. If your game has a story that's pretty much just They Live, and your gameplay can't even stand up to God of War while comparing itself to previous DMC games? You're sunk.
DmC: Devil May Cry
Ninja Theory
With minimal gameplay, terrible music, a story that works hard to make you empathize, but can easily fall to deaf ears if you just don't care, and an army of fans that refuse to shut up about it, the Fullbright Company's magnum opus never had a chance.

Released with the PlayStation 4 at launch, Knack was the game to take Sony back to its roots: Cute character, fun platforming, excellent fighting mechanics, and impressive graphics. None of that really happened.
Knack
SCE Japan Studio
Upon release, the public still had no idea what to think of SimCity. Mostly because they were unable to play due to the always-online DLC. When the buyers finally got in to the game, however, it was revealed to be a buggy, simplistic, and frankly, Facebook-like game.
SimCity
Maxis
The Last of Us garnered almost universal acclaim to sites and people across the board, but this almost cacophonous noise became pretty exhausting, especially as an indicator of how, now, games that prioritize cinematic value are praised higher than for their core gameplay.
The Last of Us
Naughty Dog
Unfortunately, Tomb Raider (2013) failed to capture the spirit of its adventure genre defining roots, and used its prequel status to rewrite the basis behind Lara Croft's character. At least the death scenes were pretty brutal.
Tomb Raider
Crystal Dynamics
With a myriad of technical problems hampering it, including crashes, graphical issues, and horrid AI, it released anyhow, staining what could have been a marvelous entry in the Total War series.
